BMW has unveiled the 2026 M2 CS, a more powerful and lighter version of its smallest M lineup car, focused exclusively on rear-wheel drive.

The model features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivering 523 horsepower and 65 kgfm of torque, a significant increase over the standard M2.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is the only option available, and the car benefits from a weight reduction of about 44 kg thanks to the use of carbon fiber in body parts, forged wheels, and lightweight sport seats.

With a curb weight of 1,710 kg, the M2 CS is currently the lightest model in the M lineup. It also features a recalibrated suspension, electronically locking differential, and enhanced control systems to manage its increased performance. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and can reach up to 188 mph (303 km/h), offering a well-balanced mix of power, agility, and control.

The suggested price for the M2 CS is around $99,775, about $30,000 more than the base M2, but still significantly below the M4 CS, which costs over $124,000.

Production of the new M2 CS will begin in August 2025 at BMW’s factory in Mexico, with deliveries expected shortly thereafter.
